You’ve sent out 500 invitations. Does that mean 500 doorgifts? Not always. Order too few and the last guests leave empty-handed. Order too many and you’ve spent money on boxes that sit in your storeroom.
Here’s a simple way to work it out.
Step 1: Decide — one per guest, or one per family?
This makes the biggest difference.
- One per guest is the safest choice. Everyone walks out with something, including children.
- One per family or couple works well when most guests come in households. It can cut your order by a third or more.
If you’re not sure, think about how gifts will be handed out. A table at the exit where guests help themselves tends to run out faster than gifts handed over by family members.
Step 2: Estimate who will actually come
Not everyone who is invited attends. Use your RSVP replies if you have them. If not, look at your guest list and count the households, not just names.
Step 3: Add a buffer of 5–10%
Unexpected guests, extra children and a few gifts for VIPs or helpers all add up. A 5–10% buffer is usually enough.
